GETARIA

The seaman Juan Sebastián Elkano and the couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga. The original txakoli and the fish grills. Something would happen here for such a small village like Getaria to be the birthplace of so many stimuli. Mount San Antón, known as the Getaria’s Mouse, gets into the sea and protects the port. In the Middle Ages, the boats set sail from this port in search of the whale that appears in the village’s coat of arms.

ZARAUTZ

Its long beach and its wide hotel and service offer makes Zarautz a perfect village for spending the summer… or any other part of the year. Zarautz preserves some of the sea character of that medieval village devoted to whaling -a cetacean, a castle and a lion appear in its coat of arms-.

GAZTELUGATXE

San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, a castle on the rock at sea. An impressive islet off the coast of Bermeo and one of the most magical places in Bizkaia. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe is connected to the mainland by a stone bridge and a stretch of land forming two arches. At a point, the bridge turns into a zigzagging narrow 241-step footbridge leading to the top of the rock, where the picturesque shrine stands.

URDAIBAI

Urdaibai: The green lungs of Bizkaia. Urdaibai is a must for nature lovers coming to Bizkaia. It is a green treasure and a natural paradise, featuring fine-sand beaches, leafy wetlands and lots of amazing birds.
